Summer has been wonderful and wonderfully tiring. I have been awed by the Lord on several occasions as He has given life in the Son to many many students and given others understanding of what it means for them to be invited into his heart for the nations. I have watched roost of bitterness sprayed with the "roundup" of the Holy Spirit and they died. I have once again learned what generosity looks like through the body of Christ. I am so grateful that he has allowed me to watch Him work as he has.
As the season ends, Our family will be transitioning into watching Him work in new ways for us. While I will continue to travel and preach a little bit, in August I will begin serving as the missions pastor at our Church. The man who is retiring from the position is a giant of gentleness, wisdom, and love. I am privileged to come alongside him and those he has worked with, as well as with the staff of our Church. I am looking forward to this opportunity to encourage our field workers, to walk with the people of TBC as we grow in our understanding of why we must take the gospel to the nations and finish the task of the Great Commission, and to mobilize new long-term workers, senders, and prayers.
My camp last week was in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I took a short hike each day and a little longer one one day, just to talk with the Lord. In each of these journeys I found encouragement concerning the journey we have been on and the one we are beginning. I am looking forward to being amazed all over again.
