Orientation was last weekend in Dallas, and it was definitely an awesome time. I got to meet all of my team except one girl, Liz, who was taking the nursing exam (scaaaaary). I absolutely love them. One thing that was crazy was we had to pick out these slips of paper at dinner on Friday night and it was a silly question or a serious one. And the one I picked out first was, "The number one prayer request in my life is..." and my heart just sunk. I didn't know how comfortable I felt sharing that with these people, most of whom I had just met about five minutes before. I thought about choosing a different slip or choosing something else I was struggling with, but this was no doubt my biggest prayer request. And if God allowed me to pick that piece of paper... maybe... maybe He wanted me to be vulnerable. And honest. So I told them the basics of it, and... wow. My team... Susan Goodman, one of the supervisors, talked to me about it several times in the past couple days. She gave me a Bible verse that really comforted her when she was in a similar situation. One of the other team members, Randi, laid her hand on me when Ailey, the nurse practitioner, prayed for my prayer request with the group. Look at this community God has blessed our team with!! I loved getting to know each one of them in different ways, and I can't wait to see what 10 days will do. :)
I wanted to share a quote with you that I found in my Peru notebook from last year's mission trip:
"I'm at peace because God takes care of me." -Marggi, a little girl in Peru (shown below)

This quote has encouraged my heart so much. This little girl was about six-years-old and I remember this quote just being totally out of the blue and when Mercedes translated, I was amazed. I just had to write it down. The faith of a child is beautiful. I hope that it encourages you... every time I read it, it just completely picks my heart up.
-Rachel.
