three thoughts: suffering, apathy towards poverty, holiness.
I have been listening to the CD that C&L gave us. wow. It is an eye opener on what sufffering really is. I only hope that as we go this summer we suffer to join in with the sufferings of our friend J.
I have also been thinking about how western we are. i was moving out fo my dorm and sickened by all the sheer and complete junk that i have. Meanwhile, in Hati, there are poeple eating dirt "cookies". I begin to wonder how much i have wasted, and how the body as a whole will be held responsibile for our flagrant waste of all the things HE has given to us to bless others with and I am appalled to find out how little I actually think about, much less do anything for "the least of these".
Through a long process I have also come to yet another simple, but not easy truth in my life.
It is that our crerator does not want us to be happy, but holy. I know that sounds like something that you might hear at summer camp, (not that those are bad!) but if you think about what that means, it means that we ask our father to make us holy and through making us holy, he teaches us to be satisfied in him and his provision, then because we as his followers are satisfied in him, he is glorified, and as we are glorifying him we are a little bit holier, one small step closer to being more like the way our father desires us to be.
