Leaving it All Behind...

So last night I pulled up The Village Church and looked in the archive of sermons. I ran across one that was entitled "Leaving it All Behind" and decided that in my particular point of my summer this was probably a good idea to listen to. (If looking for this sermon, go to the year 2007 and it is one of the first ones in that year.) The Father used this to touch my heart! One of the pastors, Paul Matthies, was speaking and talking about his upcoming move to Asia. He tried to convey to the congregation that he was not sorrowful about leaving the Village but rejoicing because the Father was moving him on and leading him in ways that would make the Father famous for all of eternity. He praised the Father for what He had done during his time at that church but now wanted to be used in another way half way around the world.

I think that we should have this type of attitude. We are not here to set up a concrete house and make our residence permanent. We should have the mentality that we are to pitch a tent where ever we are and stay for as long as the Father leads. Then, we He has moved us on, we pick up that tent and proceed to follow where ever He leads. There is no mess, no strings, no ties, but to the Throne Above. He is our guide and He never has to ask for directions.

If we live our lives like this, we are not promised a pain free life, but we will experience more joy than we ever thought possible. I am ready to pitch a tent, for now! We follow our King to the end, because He is worth more than anything!

May He Be Glorified,

Briana
